The Black Eyed Peas are back with more pummeling synths and mind-melding hooks on “The Time (Dirty Bit) “ the first single from the group’s upcoming album, “The Beginning.” borrows its chorus from the 1987 hit ballad “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” from the film “Dirty Dancing.” The track continues the Black Eyed Peas’ evolution from hip-pop to dance heavyweights, as will.i.am and Fergie sing and rap over a beat tailored to dominate again the global dance floors. In the United Kingdom, “The Time (Dirty Bit)” climbed 5 places on the UK Singles Chart on December 12, 2010, from its previous highest peak (#6) to #1, beating “Whip My Hair” by Willow Smith.
